What kind of club it is

The Top Hat has stood on Front Street for over fifty years. The club had a renovation in 2013. Logjam Presents runs it, and up to 550 people can fit in the room.

Touring acts and local bands both play the Top Hat. Ticket prices change with the show. Some nights are free. Some nights have a cover charge. For many shows, an advance ticket costs less than a day-of-show ticket.

You can eat here too. The club has a full kitchen, and the food side goes by the name Top Hat Restaurant & Bar, with a full menu. Its own site, tophatlounge.com, gives the restaurant hours.

How to find it

The street address is 134 W Front St, Missoula, MT 59802. The club is downtown, on the west part of Front Street.

Where to see what is on

That page lists the Top Hat's upcoming shows in date order. For each one, you see the day, when it starts, and what it costs. Other acts on the same bill are named next to the main act. Below the shows, a Before you go section holds the house rules, with its sources listed at the end.

Missoula Tonight updates its listings two times each day, at about 5 am and again at about 4 pm Mountain time. Shows can change, so check again on the day you go.

Five checks before you go

  1. Check the age rule for your show. The club is all ages by house policy. Some late shows are for 18 and over or 21 and over, and each show's event page says which. Kids under 16 need a parent or guardian with them at the club.
  2. Carry your physical government ID. An ID on your phone does not count.
  3. Bring a small bag or no bag. The size limit is 13 by 13 inches. No strollers, and you cannot bring in food or drinks from outside.
  4. Know the re-entry rule. Once you are in at a ticketed show, you stay in. Ticket holders can go out to the back patio, and people can smoke there. Cover-charge nights are different: you can leave and return as long as the club is not full.
  5. Come early if you want a seat. Expect general admission at most shows. The club has a few benches, some on the main floor and some up in the raised areas. They go to whoever gets there first.
